Financial training helps newcomers become independent faster.

Over the past few weeks, 18 newcomers followed an intensive financial training course consisting of four half-day sessions. In this training, they learned how financial matters work in the Netherlands and how to gain more control over their own finances.

More insight into financial matters

During the training, we covered the basics of the Dutch system. This includes the BSN, DigiD, benefits, insurance, and taxes.

For many participants, the insight into their fixed expenses was a particular eye-opener. By working on their own administration at home, greater awareness emerged. The question "where does my money actually go?" came up regularly.

Practical and immediately applicable

We made the training as concrete as possible. Participants were given examples from daily life, such as household energy consumption and how to save on it.

As a result, financial knowledge became not only understandable but also directly applicable.

Clarity regarding support

During the training, our colleague Youssra explained her work as an income consultant. She described what support Fijnder offers and what this means for participants.

This led to many questions about personal situations, rights and obligations, and the possibilities of working alongside benefits.

More confidence in the future

The participants now have more insight into their finances and know better what to look out for. They also know where to go with questions.

This gives them more confidence and helps them take steps themselves towards less financial stress and a stable future.
