When are you entitled to special assistance?
Whether you are entitled depends on your personal situation, income and savings.
You are probably entitled if you:
- are single, have no children living at home and have a maximum of €7.770 in assets
- are single with children living at home, or live with someone/are married and have assets of a maximum of €15.540
- have an income that is no higher than 110% of the social assistance standard.
This means that you are allowed to earn slightly more than the minimum income.
Below you can see what that means in euros (net, including holiday pay):- Single or single parent (21 years until retirement): €1.505,97 per month
- Couple (21 years until retirement): €2.151,38 per month
How do you apply for special assistance?
Tip: Always contact your income consultant before incurring any expenses. That way, you'll know immediately what options are available.

- Are you buying durable items like a washing machine or refrigerator? Apply for Special Assistance in advance, before you buy.
